5 out of 5 starsI'm very happy with this diamond willow stick I purchased for a craft project. It's just what I wanted, has several good diamond markings, and arrived quickly. I'll definitely shop here again.

Frequently asked questions
(1) Will you CUT a stick down to a SHORTER length for me?
YES! Just let us know the length you want and we'll cut it for FREE after you pay for the hiking stick or walking cane.
We'll just saw, sand it, and give it several coats of clear polyurethane at the cut.
Remember: Measure twice, cut once. ;)
(2) Do you have a stick of a DIFFERENT SIZE than shown in this listing?
Most likely yes. Our shop categories are actually arranged by size. Please either check out the selection of our other handcrafted diamond willow hiking staffs and walking canes in our shop here on Etsy. https://www.etsy.com/shop/ClimbingMonkeys
OR
If you don't see the size you need there, or just want us to help you find it, or you want us to look through our sticks that we haven't taken time to list online yet -- don't be shy! Just give us a holler. :)
We'd be more than happy to help you find the right fit. Just message us and we'll get back to you ASAP.
(3) What SIZE or HEIGHT hiking staff or walking cane is right for me--or for the person I'm buying for?
IMPORTANT: Measure while wearing your regular shoes/boots.
For STAFFS, a walking staff that is *SHOULDER* height is usually sufficient, or 6-8" above the elbow.
Generally, for everyday flatter terrain or slowly rolling hills, then the above guide of 6-8" above elbow or 2" below shoulder works best. For hilly, steep terrain, then a shoulder ht. or 2" above shoulder works best.
For CANES, the best height is approx. a 2-4'' above the ELBOW.
FOR BOTH: It depends on preference, though. Some people like them taller, and some people like them shorter.
If you're unsure, practice using a broom or someone else's cane or staff and measure what feels most comfortable to you (while wearing your regular walking/hiking shoes).
(4) How do I know what GIRTH is best for my HAND SIZE?
Just find something that is comfortable for your hand to grip, and pretend it's a cane or hiking staff, and then measure its diameter (distance across, not around).
Most of our sticks will work for almost all hand sizes. But if a stick is thinner than usual, or thicker than usual, then we'll mention that above the specs at the top of the listing description.
Plus, we always put the diameter of the stick in the "Specifications" section of each listing.
If you can't find a stick in our shop that's close to that diameter, then we may have one done & waiting to get listed.
Just send me a message and I can easily help you find one with the girth AND height you prefer and get right back to you ASAP. :) I'm happy to help, so don't be shy.
(5) Care Instructions
These are made for the outdoors, but should not be left in the sun or extreme heat or cold for days and weeks on end.
Otherwise, the same thing will happen to your lovely walking stick that happens to wood furniture left outside in all sorts of weather.
So bring it in when you're not using it....when you can. But being left out for a little while every now and then is no big deal. I've had the same stick I use daily for many years, and I leave it out sometimes--just not too often.
Bringing it indoors when not in use, and the 5 coats of poly I've put on, will help protect your walking stick and help you keep it nice looking and useful for many years.
